Injured Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors cheers on his team against the Utah Jazz. Ezra Shaw/Getty ImagesThe Golden State Warriors’ playoff campaign will begin with star Steph Curry in the lineup. This announcement came from head coach Steve Kerr, who spoke to reporters prior to the team’s Game 1 matchup against the Denver Nuggets for their opening round playoff series. Curry had been dealing with a foot injury that kept him out for the final 12 games of the regular season. The injury happened when Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics dove onto Curry’s ankle as he was chasing a loose ball. Even as the season came to a close, it wasn’t certain that he would be ready for the postseason. Questions lingered about his progress, and it wasn’t until as recently as Friday that Kerr said “everything has gone really well” with the guard’s recovery. Kerr’s most recent update still leaves one question unanswered, and that’s whether Curry will be on any kind of minutes restriction for Saturday’s game. It was also unknown whether he’ll be a starter for the game. It’s no secret that the Warriors are objectively worse off without Curry on the team. His presence requires entire defensive game plans to revolve around where he is on the court at all times. He especially shows out in the postseason, particularly during clutch time.
